Blog Explanation
Blog
A blog is a diary or journal that is run on a website and is therefore usually publicly accessible, in which at least one person, the blogger, also internationally known as weblogger, records, records ( “postet”) or writes thoughts down.
Often, a blog is a chronologically down-sorted list of items that are wrapped at certain intervals. The blogger is the main author of the content, and often the contributions are written from the I-perspective. The blog is a medium for portraying aspects of one’s life and opinions on specific topics, depending on the professionalism up to the proximity of an internet newspaper with special emphasis on comments. Often comments or discussions of the readers are possible for an article. Thus, the medium can serve both the placing of notes in a cardboard box, the access to information, thoughts and experiences, somewhat subordinate to the communication, similarly to an Internet forum.
Characteristic for weblog publishing systems is that it is very easy with them to publish websites. These are content management systems, which allow the creation of new content as well as the modification and commentary even for inexperienced users, but allow little variation in web design. The customization is usually done once during installation by selecting one of several available design templates. In many blog systems (for example, WordPress), the appearance can be changed by changing templates (or even importing own ones) later.
Weblog software can be installed on our own webspace or used as an ASP service for free or paid providers. The best-known blog software systems include Serendipity, WordPress, Movable Type, and Textpatterns, mostly based on PHP. Application service providers in the German-speaking area are, for example, LiveJournal, Twoday.net, Blog.de or Blogger.de.
The published contributions and comments are mostly also readable via web-feed. For this purpose, an icon (usually in the address bar) appears in modern browsers or a hyperlink is provided which is connected to the data stream to be subscribed.
